Flower Size 3.2" [8 cm]
Found in Thailand, Laos, Cambodia, Vietnam, Malaysia, Java, Sumatra, Borneo, Moluccas, New Guinea and the Philippines in open scrub and light montane forests at elevations of 50 to 1500 meters as a large to giant sized, hot to cool growing terrestrial orchid with close set stems that are basally sheathed with leaves exept at the near apex and the base with 1 to 1/2" [2 to 3 cm] betweeen each strap shaped, shallowly bilobed apically, sometimes unequal lobed, gradually narrowing below into the clasping base leaves that all twist to face in one direction and blooms in the spring, summer and fall on a terminal, to 6" [to 15 cm] long, rarely branching, to almost 50, successively a few at a time flowered, fractiflex inflorescence with triangular, persistent, 2 ranked, floral bracts carrying wide open flowers.
The roots are boiled and the broth is taken by mouth to help prevent rheumatism and joint pains
