Found in New Guinea and northern Queensland in straggly clumps among low shrubs and rushes near the coast at elevations of sea level to 200 meters as a large to giant sized, hot growing terrestrial with erect, scrambling to erect, flattened, yellowish green stems carrying spreading, stiff, linear, obtuse, notched apically leaves that blooms at most any time of the year on a terminal, erect, 4 to 8" [10 to 20 cm] long, apically shortly zigzag, successively single, several flowered inflorescence with widely opening flowers
