Found in Cape Province Lesotho, Natal and Orange Free State South Africa on rock ledges and in shallow rocky soils usually in full sun at elevations of 1800 to 3000 meters as a medium to large sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with 1 to 3, scattered along the stem, usually narrowly lanceolate leaves that blooms in the summer through early fall on a terminal, erect, 1 to 6 flowered inflorescence
