Found in western New Guinea in montane forests on mossy tree trunks at elevations around 1970 meters as a mini-miniature sized, cool growing, clump forming epiphyte with short, creeping and branching rhizom giving rise to close set, cylindrical, slightly gradually widening towards the base, finely longitudinally grooved pseudobulbs and carrying a single, apical, thin coriaceous, narrowly elliptic, apex subacute, minutely mucronate, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the winter on a patent, one or a few from each pseudobulb, 1.8 to 2.4" [4.5 to 6 cm] long, peduncle 1.4 to 2" [3.5 to 5 cm] long, long persistent, provided with 1 or 2, tubular peduncle scales, single flowered inflorescence with an obliquely tubular, apex acuminate floral bract.
