Found in Borneo in lower montane forests at elevations of 600 to 800 to 1500 meters as a miniature to small sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with .4 to 1" [1 to 2.5 cm] between each somewhat flattened to not, ovoid pseudobulb carrying a single apical, erect, elliptic, obtuse, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the late winter and early spring on a basal, 1.8 to 3.6" [4.5 to 9 cm] long, simultaneously opening, 6 to 9 flowered inflorescence with ovate, acute floral bracts.

"Differs from B. makoyanum (Reichb. f.) Ridley in having a lip which is verrucose adaxially. In addition, it has lateral sepals which are not covered with a sticky mucus when the flowers are open, and which are only connate along their lower margins near the base>" Vermeulen & Lamb 1994
