Common Name The Graceful Bulbophyllum - In Australia The Wispy Umbrella Orchid

Flower Size 1 1/4" [2.5 to 3 cm]

Found in Thailand, Myanmar, Malaysia, Sumatra, Java, Borneo, Moluccas, New Guinea, Sulawesi, Solomon islands, Australia, Fiji and New Caledonia low down on the trunks of trees in rainforests at elevations of sealevel to 150 meters as a miniature sized, hot growing epiphyte with small, ovoid pseudobulbs clustered close together and a single, apical, elliptic leaf that blooms in the spring through summer on an erect, 6 to 12" [15 to 30 cm] long purple, wiry inflorescence that has a head of several [6 to 10] fragrant flowers at the apex held well above the leaf.

I love this Bulbophyllum, picture doesn't do it justice, it has purple eyes in the flower that bobble in the slightest wind. Give this plant a treefern mount, cool to warm temperatures, moderate shade, high humidity and good air circulation.
