Common Name The Small Spotted Bulbophyllum - In China Zuan Chu Juan Ban Lan
Flower Size 3/4" [2 cm]
Found in the Xizang province of China, western Himalayas, Assam, eastern Himalayas, Nepal, Bhutan, Sikkim, Myanmar and Vietnam at elevations of 800 to 2600 meters as a small sized, warm to cold growing epiphyte with .4 to .8" between each ovoid, erect, green pseudobulb carrying a single, apical, oblanceolate, obtuse, minutely retuse apically, gradually narrowing below into the channeled petiolate base and blooms on a slender, basal, lateral, 6 to 8" [15 to 20 cm] long, purple umbellate inflorescence occuring in the summer and fall with a few flowers held just above the leaves. A hot growing epiphyte that needs partial shade, good air movement and high humidity for good growth.
species is very similar to B umbellatae but differs in it's spotted flower, an inflorescence that is longer than the leaves and has long-caudate stellida.
