Common Name or Meaning The Pandanus Loving Bulbophyllum [A tree of western Africa]

Found in Gabon in lowland forests on Pandanus trees as a miniature sized, hot to warm growing epiphyte with to 1 to 1.6" [2.5 to 4 cm] between each, ovoid to ellipsoid, slightly flattened, 4 angled pseudobulbs carrying 2, apical, oblique, coriaceous, linear-lanceolate, obtuse, gradually narrowing into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the late summer and early fall on a basal, erect, glabrous, peduncle to 4.8 to 9.4" [12 to 23.5 cm] long, 19 to 22 scaled, rachis erect, swollen, 4 angled, 2 concave sides from which the flowers arise, only zigzag bent towards the apex, edges sharp, straight, irregularily dentate, glabrous, lax, 8 to 12.4" [20 to 31 cm] long overall, 8 to 16 flowered inflorescence with recurved to spreading, distinctly concave floral bracts and carrying distichous red flowers.

"B. pandanetorum is evidently allied to B. bifarium, which, however, has much narrower bracts of a rather stiffer texture and also differs in various minor floral features. Perhaps the most significant of these is the absence from the wings of the column below the stelidia of the triangular tooth-like projection which occurs in B bifarium." Summerhayes 1954
