Common Name The Rugose Bulb Bulbophyllum
Flower Size .3" [7.5 mm]
Found in Tanzania, Zambia and Malawi in brachystegia woodlands forming mats on trunks and lower branches at elevations of 1200 to 1800 meters as a miniature sized, warm growing epiphyte with close set, small, reddish, rugose pseudobulbs carrying 2 apical, deciduous, light green, grass-like leaves that blooms in the fall and winter on a basal, 2.4" [6 cm] long, to 12 flowered inflorescence with lanceolate, scarious, longer tha n the flower floral bracts and carrying distichous, asecund flowers.
" This delightful little species evidently belongs to the same group of species as B. cochleatum and B vulcanicum but differs from them both in the relatively inconspicuous scarious bracts and the short strongly rugose pseudobulbs. It is a much smaller plant that any of its allies, the inflorescence, which overtops the leavers, reaching a length of only 2" [5 cm]. Summerhayes 1960
