Found in Yunnan province of China in forests at elevations around 1500 meters as a small sized, cool growing epiphyte with ovoid-conical pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, narrowly oblong-elliptic, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the late winter and spring on an erect, basal, 1.6 to 3.6" [4 to 9 cm] long, shorter than the leaves, 2 to 4 flowered inflorescence holding the flowers in an apical umbel and has lanceolate floral bracts.
