This medium sized, cold growing terrestrial species is from Victoria and South Australia at elevations of 30 to 200 meters occuring in low flats, well drained - loamy soil in open forest with a small, globose tuber giving rise to an erect stem with 2 lower leafless, acuminate sheaths and carrying several [6], narrowly linear, acute to subacute, basally clasping leaves and blooms in the winter on an erect, [3 to 20" [7.5 to 50 cm] long, 1 to 12 flowered inflorescence with flowers that have a triggered lip that flexes up when stimulated .
