This small sized, cold growing terrestrial species is from New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia occuring at elevations of 50 to 1500 meters in open, heathy forest among grass tussocks and shrubs with a single, linear, pilose leaf that blooms in the spring on an erect, to 24" (to 60cm) long, 1 to 3 flowered inflorescence. Fires are a great catalyst for blooming this species.
