Found in penninsular Malaysia and Sumatra in montane forests at elevations of 1670 to 2000 meters as a large sized, cool growing terrestrial with close set, cylindrical pseudobulbs carrying lanceolate, very acute, narrowing below into the grooved, petiolate base leaves that blooms on a stout, glabrous, peduncle terete, pale green to 10" [25 cm] long, rachis to 4.8" 12 cm] long, densely many flowered inflorescence with some tubular bracts and deciduous, early falling, lanceolate, acuminate, pale green, the lower ones largest floral bracts
