Found in New Guinea in humus at elevations around 600 meters as a large sized, warm growing terrestrial with a short rhizome giving rise to stems carrying 4 to 5, narrowly lanceolate, acuminate, to 16" [40 cm] long, broadest in the middle, minutely pubescent beneath, cuneate below into the shortly petiolate base leaves that blooms in the fall on a graceful, terete, glabrous, laxly many flowered inflorescence with persistent, ovate-lanceolate, acuminate, glabrous much shorter than the ovary floral bracts.
