Common Name The Lamina Calanthe - In China Shen Chun Xia Ji Lan
Flower Size 1.4 to 1.6" [3.5 to 4 cm]
Found in north Guanxi, Hubei, Sichuan and western to southeastern Yunnan China in open scrub within forests and along streams at elevations of 1800 to 2300 meters as a medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with ovoid, pointed, close set pseudobulbs carrying 3 to 4, oblong-elliptic, acuminate, the older ones petiolate base leaves that blooms in the later spring on a longer than the leaves to 12" [30 cm] long, the peduncle shorter than the puberulous rachis, laxly 15 to 20 flowered inflorescence with narrowly lanceolate, persistent, half as long as the ovary floral bracts carrying coconut scented flowers.
CAUTION Many references cite this species as a synonym of C brevicornu but it is a reddish to brownish tepaled species.
