Common Name Lowan's Caladenia - Wimmera Spider Orchid

Flower Size 1 3/5" [4 cm]

This small sized, cold growing terrestrial species is known only from Kiata in the Little Desert of Victoria state Australia, in sparse forests where it favours red-brown sandy-loam soil and blooms in the spring on an erect, 4.8" to 10" [12 to 25 cm] long, single flowered erect inflorescence and is thought to be pollinated by pseudo-copulation perpetrated by the male thynnid wasp.
