Common Name Mann's Calanthe [German Engineer and Orchid Enthusiast India 1800's] - In China Xi Hua Xia Ji Lan

Flower Size .2 to .5" [.5 to 1.3 cm]

Found in the Western Himalayas, Assam, Eastern Himalayas, Nepal, Myanmar, southern China and Vietnam in dense rainforests and secondary, mossy grasslands in foothills at elevations of 600 to 2400 meters as a small to just medium sized, warm to cold growing terrestrial with short, cylindric pseudobulbs carrying 4 to 5, narrowly elliptic-oblong to oblanceolate-oblong, acute to subacute, plicate, 5 nerved, gradually narrowing below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the spring on a terminal, laxly 10 to 20 flowered, pubescent, 10.8" to 22.4" [27 to 56 cm ]long inflorescence with glabrous, small, lanceolate, acute floral bracts.
