Common Name The Single Leaved Calanthe

Found in Pahang penninsular Malayasia at elevations around 1000 to 1200 meters as a medium sized, cool growing terrestrial with a small pseudobulb carrying a single, shortly hairy along the veins underneath and on the petiolate base leaf that blooms on an erect, shortly hairy, to 12" [30 cm] long, rachis elongating gradually, well spaced, several flowered inflorescence with broad, shorter than the ovary floral bracts and carrying cleistogamus flowers with pink tepals and the sepals are shortly hairy.
Seidenfaden states that this orchid is one of a small group of Calanthe [ C taenioides for one]with single leaves and this one can be easily separated by the lip shape and column.
