Found in Japan and Xizang province China in forests at elevations around 2600 meters as a miniature to small sized, cold growing terrestrial with short-conical pseudobulbs carrying 4 to 5, narrowly oblong-lanceolate to oblanceolate, acuminate, slightly undulate margins, tapering below into the petiolate base leaves that are not well developed at blooming in the late spring on an axillary, erect, pubescent above, rachis 4.4" [11 cm] long, few flowered, overall 14" [35 cm] long, racemose inflorescence with lanceolate, shorter than the pedicel floral bracts
