Found in Queensland, New South Wales, Victoria, Tasmania and South Australia as well as New Zealand in open forests and heathlands at elevations of sea level to 800 meters as a medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with a slender stem with 1 to 23, subulate, loose bracts nand carrying a single, linear-lanceolate, rigid, channeled, keeled, fully developed leaf at blooming occuring in the late winter and spring on an erect, 14" [35 cm] long, 2 to 9 flowered inflorescence.
