This miniature to small sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial species is from Victoria state, Australia where it occurs at elevations of 50 to 350 meters in coastal areas of heathy woodland - particularly on slashed verges or in grassy breaks, in sandy to clayey soil with a single, basal leaf that blooms in the spring on an erect, 2 to 6" [5 to 15 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence and is thought to be pollinated by pseudocopulation by the male Thynnid wasp.
May be conspecific with Caladenia phaeoclavia and if so this name takes precedence.
