Found in northwestern Guizhou and southeastern Yunnan provinces of China as well as northern Vietnam in damp shady places in montane forests at elevations around 1500 to 1700 meters as a small sized, cool growing terrestrial with very small pseudsobulbs enveloped by leaf sheaths carrying an erect, oblanceolate, subacute, shortly pubescent abaxially, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the late winter and early spring on an erect, arising from the leaf axil, shortly pubescent, 8 to 8.8" [20 to 22 cm] long, rachis 2.4 to 4.8" [6 to 12 cm] long, to 10 flowered inflorescence with persistent, lanceolate, shortly pubescent floral bracts.
