Common Name The Rigid Caladenia - The Upright Spider Orchid

Found in Victoria Australia at elevations of 80 to 200 meters as a small sized, cold growing terrestrial orchid occuring in mallee heathland in sandy soil with gravel with a single, basal leaf that blooms in the late winter and spring on an erect, 6 to 16" [15 to 40 cm] long, pubescent, single flowered inflorescence and is thought to be generally pollinated by pseudocopulation by the male thynnid wasp.
