Found in New Guinea and the Solomon Islands in mossy forests at elevations around 800 to 2200 meters as a possibly medium sized, warm to cold growing terrestrial with a slender petiolate base leaves that blooms in the fall and winter on a peduncle to 16.8" [42 cm] long, rachis to 5.6" [14 cm] long, laxly many flowered inflorescence with persistent floral bracts.

The New Guinea plants were collected at 800 meters and bloomed in the fall, the Solomon Island plants were collected at 2000 to 2200 meters and bloomed in the winter.
