Common Name The Trunk Loving Calanthe

Flower Size .8" [2 cm]

Found in western Sumatra among bamboo and scrub in lower montane forests at elevations around 1600 meters as a medium sized, cool growing epiphyte or terrestrial with close set, short, thickened pseudobulbs carrying 2 to 4, lanceolate-elliptic, acuminate, gradually narrowing below into the 6" [15 cm] long petiolate base leaves that blooms in the summer on an erect, to 10" [25 cm] long overall, peduncle with 5 clasping bracts, terete, glabrous rachis 1.6 to 2.4" [4 to 6 cm] long, 15 to 20 flowered inflorescence with deciduous, ovate-lanceolate floral bracts carrying golden yellow flowers.

Plants collected in Borneo attributed to this species are now considered to be C musa-amanii
