Common Name The Velvety Calanthe

Flower Size 1.6" [4 cm]

Found in Thailand and Vietnam in evergreen montane and highland cloud forests at elevations of 1000 to 3000 meters as a medium sized, cool to cold growing terrestrial with obscure, short, pseudobulbs enveloped basally by 2, spathulate-tubular sheaths and carrying a single, spreading, broadly lanceolate, abruptly acuminate, 5 nerved, attenuate below intothe petiolate base leaf that blooms in the fall on an erect, 20 to 22" [50 to 55 cm] long, slender, rachis to 4.87" [12 cm] long, successively 10 to 14 flowered inflorescence with linear, acuminate floral bracts
