Found mainly in western Victoria and Tasmania Australia at elevations of sea level to 150 meters in damp sandy heathlands and coastal scrub as a medium sized cold growing terrestrial orchid with a single, basally red, elongate leaf that blooms in the spring through early summer on an erect, to 14" [35 cm] tall, 1 or 2 flowered inflorescence with short lived, self-pollinating flowers
