Common Name Yuan's Calanthe - In China E Bian Xia Ji Lan

Flower Size 3/4" [1.8 cm]

Found in south western Sichuan and western Hubei provinces of China in evergreen broad-leaved forests at elevations around 1800 meters as a large sized, cool growing terrestrial with small conic pseudobulbs enveloped by leaf sheaths and carrying 4, well developed at blooming, suberect, not deciduous, abaxially puberulent, elliptic, shortly acuminate, gradually narrowing below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the later spring on an erect, axillary, densely puberulent, to 12" [to 30 cm] long, laxly 14 flowered inflorescence with persistent, glabrous, lanceolate, acuminate floral bracts.
