Found in Brazil as a small sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte from wet montane forests at elevations of 600 to 1200 meters with fusiform pseudobulbs enveloped by leafless and leafbearing sheaths carrying plicate, deciduous leaves that blooms in the spring and early summer on a basal, erect to suberect, 1 1/2' [45 cm] long, many [10 to 15] flowered, racemose inflorescence arising on a mature pseudobulb carrying fleshy, fragrant flowers.
