Common Name Garnet's Catasetum [English Botanist and Orchid Collector in Brazil 1800's]

Found in northern Brazil in forests bordering the Amazon River at low elevations as a medium sized, hot growing epiphyte with fusiform pseudobulbs enveloped completely by leafless and leafbearing sheaths carrying up to 8, linear-oblanceolate, medium green, plicate, 3 prominent nerved, basally clasping leaves that blooms in the summer to fall on a male, pendent, to 11.2" [to 28 cm] long, to 30 flowered inflorescence carrying fleshy, fragrant flowers.
Similar to C barbatum and often cited as a synonym of it, but it is quite distinctive in the lip with the more uneven, longer papillae only along the margins of the lip.
