Found in Minas Gerais state of Brazil in high-light forests in valleys at elevations around 480 meters as a natural hybrid between C guttata and C amethestoglossa as a medium sized, cespitose, hot growing epiphyte with an inconspicuous rhizome giving rise to off-green, smooth, cylindric, grooved pseudobulbs enveloped by deciduous sheaths and carrying 2, apical, erect, green, leathery, rigid, elliptic leaves that blooms in the winter on a terminal, erect, rigid, 4.8" [12 cm] long, simultaneously to 4 flowered inflorescence with green, triangular floral bracts and carrying patent flowers.
