Found in New Guinea at elevations around 2400 meters as a small to medium sized, cold growing epiphyte with a short rhizome giving rise to thin, glabrous, terete pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect, glabrous, coriaceous, flat, linear, longly acuminate, narrowing below into the petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on an apical, fasciculate, few flowered inflorescence.
Schlechter states that the flowers are reddish with a golden yellow apex to the lip.
