Found in southeastern Yunnan province of China in forests on limestone mountains at elevations of 1100 meters as a miniature sized, cool growing terrestrial with an erect stem carrying 4, green, often reticulated with dark green, ovate-cordate, acute to subacuminate, gradually narrowing below into the petiolate base leaves that blooms in the late fall and earlier winter on a terminal, erect, peduncle 2 to 3.2" [5 to 8 cm] long, provided with 2 to 3 sterile bracts pubescent, rachis usually less than .4" [1 cm] long, 2.4 to 3.6" [6 to 9 cm] long overall, 2 to 4 flowered inflorescence and ovate-lanceolate, acuminate, longer than the ovary floral bracts.
