Common Name Endres' Chondroscaphe [German Orchid Collector in Central America 1800's]
Flower Size 1.2" [3 cm]
Found in Costa Rica in extremely wet montane forests at elevations of 950 to 1200 meters as a medium sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with a loose fan of 3 to 7, oblanceolatre to narrowly oblanceolate-ligulate, acuminate, basally conduplicate leaves that blooms in the fall on a basal, axillary, 4" [10 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence.
This species has mistakenly been determined to be C bicolor for many years but actually is Chondoscaphe endresii.
Patricia's photo shows the pollina in the triggered position waiting to be caught up by a flying bug.
