Common Name Schlim's Chrysocycnis [Belgian Orchid Collector 1800's]
Flower Size 2 to 2 3/8" [5 to 6 cm]
Found in Venezuela, Colombia, Ecuador and Peru in wet primary, montane forests at elevations around 2000 to 2500 meters as a medium to large sized, cold, scandent growing epiphyte in cloud forests at forest edge in humid shade with a stout, naked, red, branching rhizome, narrowly ovoid, slightly compressed pseudobulbs with elliptic-ovate or elliptic-lanceolate, acute leaves that are shortly petiolate at the base and blooms at most any time of the year on a single flowered, 2 3/4" [7 cm] long inflorescence arising on a mature pseudobulb that has a lanceolate, acuminate sheath at the base.
