Common Name The Triangular Column Foot Bulbophyllum
Found in Thailand, penninsular Malaysia and Borneo in tall, low and open forests at elevations of sea level to 100 meters as a miniature to small sized, hot growing epiphyte with .12 to 1" [.3 to 2.5 cm] between each distinct, ovoid to ellipsoid, hardly angular to obtusely 4 to 5 angled pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, erect, ovate, obovate to elliptic, obtuse, petiolate base leaf that blooms on an obliquely erect to patent, peduncle with about 4 scales, 1.8 to 2.6" [4.5 to 6.5 cm] long, rachis porrect, .04 to .08" [1 to 2 mm] long, sumbumbellate, racemose, 5 to 10 flowered inflorescence.
CAUTION!!!!!! This species has been wrongly cited as Bulbophyllum abbreviatum ex Rchb.f Seidenfadden 1973 and needs to be renamed as a different Bulbophyllum as the name had already been used 50 years earlier, I here propose B trigonopus as Reichenbach described it at the same time as Cirrhopetalum trigonopus and then found that they were the same plant and it has no complications within the Bulbophyllum. {Added 2018} When I wrote the previous CAUTION online publication was not accepted and so Mr Ong got the credit for the switch in 2017
