Found in southern Brazil and Paraguay as a small to medium sized, warm to cool growing terrestrial orchid with a thin, glabrous stem enveloped below at intervals by linear, acute bract-like leaves that at times can be scale-like that blooms in the late summer and early spring on an erect, terminal, successively few flowered inflorescenece with linear, acute, basally clasping, as long as the ovary floral bracts
