Common Name The Wine Like Cleistes [refers to the color of the flowers]

Flower Size 2.2 to 2.4" [5.5 to 6 cm]

Found in southern and southeastern Brazil on roadbanks, in mountain foelds and on scrub covered ridges at elevations around 1200 meters as a medium sized, cool growing terrestrial with a rigid, leafy stem carrying many ovate, rarely lanceolate, acute to obtuse never acuminate, strongly many nerved, amplexicaul below into the base leaves that blooms in the late summer and earlier fall on a few, axillary, successive single flowered inflorescence.
