Found in Nicaragua, Costa Rica, Panama and Ecuador in wet oak, cloud forests at elevations of 800 to 2900 meters as a medium sized, warm to cold growing epiphyte or terrestrial that blooms in the fall and early winter on an erect, red, several flowered inflorescence with red, triangular, acute bracts and floral bracts and carrying red to orange flowers
