Common Name Schneider's Coccineorchis [German Collector of the type 1900's]

Found in Cauca department of Colombia without locational data at elevations around 1100 meters as a medium sized, cool growing terrestrial with 7, basal, ovate to elliptic-lanceolate, obliquely acute to acuminate, elongate petiolate base leaves that blooms in the spring on an erect, terminal, peduncle to 14.4" [36 cm] long, usully delicate, densely glandular above, rachis 2.2" [5.5 cm] long, densely many flowered inflorescewnce with ovate-lanceolate, acute, glabrous, longer than the ovary floral bracts.

"Similar to both C warszewicziana and C cristata with the lip adorned with more or less prominent thickenings running along the midvein, C warscewicziana and C cristatra have 2 to 5 lamellae or keels while C schneideri has only 1 and is additionally adorned with a pair of mamillate projections at the base."
