Warm Cold Spring

Common Name The Small Coelogyne [refers to the size of the pseudobulbs]

Flower Size 2" [5 cm]

Found in Borneo in hill, lower and upper montane forests on ridges at elevations of 600 to 2700 meters as a medium sized, warm to cold growing epiphyte or terrestrial in open scrub with close set, subglabrous, rounded pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical lanceolate, acuminate-mucronate, coriaceous, plicate, 7 nerved, gradually narrowing below into the smooth, round petiolate base leaf and blooms in the spring on a erect, stiff, to 16" [to 40 cm] long, 6 to 8 flowered inflorescence arising on a mature pseudobulb with persistent floral bracts and successive opening flowers.

The first flower photo matches Wood etal 2011 fairly well other than the rounded apices to the petals. The second photo has the lip encompassing the column, acute petals and a different apex to the column and wings and has a cupped acuminate apex to the sepals.

Synonyms Coelogyne subintegra J.J.Sm. 1909
