Found in Yunnan province of China in thickets and coniferous forests at elevations of 2800 to 3200 meters as a small sized, cold growing epiphyte with clustered, ovoid-oblong to subellipsoid, narrowing towards the apex pseudobulbs carrying 2, narrowly obovate-lancelolate to oblong-lanceolate, acuminate, coriaceous, shortly petiolate base leaves that blooms in the spring on a synanthous, 3.2 to 5" [8 to 12.5 cm] long, 2 to 4 flowered inflorescence with simultaneously opening flowers
