Cool Cold Spring

Common Name The Necklace-Like Rachis Coelogyne [Refers to the charachteristic contraction of the rachis at the nodes giving it a bead-like appearance reminiscent of a necklace]

Flower Size 2.4" [6 cm]

Found in Sabah and Sarawak Borneo in lower montane forests at elevations of 1100 to 2700 meters as a small sized, cool to cold growing epiphyte with 1/2" [1.25 cm] between each elongate, ovoid pseudobulb and carrying a single, apical, erect, elliptic, shortly acuminate, acute, membranaceous, plicate, 7 nerved, green suffused with red, gradually narrowing below into the grooved, petiolate base leaf that blooms in the spring on a hysteranthous to synanthous, elongate, arched, very slender, slightly dilated towards the apex, 7" [17.5 cm] long, to 40 flowered inflorescence arising on a mature pseudobulb with successively opening flowers.
