Found in Borneo on Mt Kinabalu in hill and lower montane forests at elevations around 900 to 1600 meters as a small to medium sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with cylindric to narrowly pyriform pseudobulbs enveloped by fibrous remnants of sheaths and carrying a single, apical, oblong-linear, strongly plicate, rigid, erect, coriaceous, gradually narrowing below into the conduplicate base leaf that blooms in the fall on a heteranthous, erect, 8.8 to 12" [22 to 30 cm] long overall, rachis to 4.8" [12 cm] long, arcuate to zigzag, loosely few flowered inflorescence
