Common Name Swain's Coelogyne [English Gardener 1800's]

Found in Malaysia, Borneo, Sumatra and the Philippines in dense to open forests on large branches at elevations of 910 meters as a medium sized, warm growing epiphyte but also found in humus and moss as a terrestrial and on limestone and sandstone as a lithophyte with close set, 4 angled, narrowly ovoid pseudobulbs carrying 2, elliptical to obovate, plicate, 3 to 7 nerved, acute, gradually narrowing below into the elongate petiolate base leaves that blooms at most any time of the year on a 12 to 16" [30 to 40 cm] long, arching to descending, several to many flowered, heteranthous inflorescence arising on a mature pseudobulb with a few basal bracts and ovate floral bracts and carrying 7 to 15 wide spread, simultaneously opening flowers.
