Common Name The Smooth and Clean Shaven Coelogyne [refers to the lack of long hairs on the lip]

Flower Size 2 to 2.8 [5 to 7 cm]

Found in Thailand, Penninsular Malaysia and Sumatra in primary and secondary montane forests at elevations of 700 to 1900 meters as a medium sized, warm to cool growing epiphyte with clustered, elliptic, 4 ribbed, deeply grooved between, slightly rugose, dark glossy green pseudobulbs carrying a single, apical, plicate, 5 nerved, pink to purple in youth, dark glossy green, broadly lanceolate leaf that gradually narrows into a distinct petiole and blooms in the late winter on a 4 to 8" [10 to 20 cm] long, limp, successively single to 5 flowered inflorescence with a tubluar, acute sheath all arising from the center of a new growth and carrying color variable, sometimes sweetly scented flowers.
