Common Name Carse's Corybas- In New Zealand, The New Zealand Swamp Helmut Orchid, The Banded Helmut Orchid

Flower Size .4 to .6" [1 to 1.5 cm]

Found on the north island of New Zealand in the Whangamarino Empodisma swamp as a mini-miniature sized, cold growing terrestrial with a single cordate leaf that blooms in the spring on an erect, single flowered inflorescence

Populations have increased after controlled burning of its habitat, so fire may be essential for its continued survival.
