Common Name The Black Corunastylis - In Australia - The Kangaroo Island Midge Orchid - Mallee Midge Orchid

Flower Size 1/8" [3mm]

Found as a miniature to small sized, cold growing terrestrial occuring in South Australia, Australia at elevations of 30 to 150 meters in open mallee scrublands with a globose tuber giving rise to an erect stem carrying a single leaf attached to the stem till shortly below the inflorescence where it becomes free and ending before the first flower stalk that will bloom in the late summer and fall on an erect, green, to 10" [to 25 cm] long, 5 to 25 flowered inflorescence.

CAUTION This species may be identified in error as references state that it is confined to South Australia and this one was photographed in Victoria

This species is now said to have C tepperi as a synonym but I have left them separate for now.
