Common Name The Bahia Coryanthes [A state of northern Brazil]

Found in Bahia State of Brazil at elevations around 600 meters as a medium sized, warm growing epiphyte with ovoid, slighly arched, , deeply many sulcate pseudobulbs carrying 2, apical, lanceolate, attenuate below into the pseudopetiolate base leaves that blooms in the winter on a basal, pendent, longer than the leaves, peduncle cylindrical, 18 to 20" [45 to 50 cm] long, single flowered inflorescence enveloped partially by a purple black sterile bract and an acute floral bract.
