Found in New Guinea at elevations around 800 meters as a mini-miniature sized, warm growing terrestrial with an ovate, deeply cordate, glabrous, acuminate, dark red leaf that blooms in the winter on an erect, subsessile, single flowered inflorescence with a lanceolate-subulate floral bract.

Schlechter states that the flowers are whitish with the dorsal sepal flushed with red and the lip is beutifully marked with black brown.
